19th Hole
This was one of the first food plots that we put in on a buddies hunting property. It's about two acres and over the past decade of maintaining it, it's single handedly improved the deer herd. The property now boasts 10 high quality food plots but nothing has beat the 19th hole over the years.
It all started as an area of the farm called "Bald Hill." It's a clearing on the top of the property that had been brish hogged maybe once a year. We started by brish hogging, mowing, and tilling. The soil is kind if what you would expect on the top of a mountain, gravely and rocky, not a lot of biological material.
Thanks to well timed rain, it really took off the first season. And it's been great ever since. We try to do a summer "soil builder" mix in it as well as a wildlife atracting mix in the winter during deer season. Just look at some of the great pictures we have captured over this plot over throughout the years. It's a great exaple of what one or two simple wildlife enhancements can do for your property.
